Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWC) Carderock is the Navy\u2019s center of excellence for ships and ship systems. For over 100 years, Carderock has helped preserve and enhance the nation\u2019s presence on and under the seas through the full-spectrum research and development, test and evaluation, engineering, and Fleet support for the Navy\u2019s ships, submarines, military watercraft, and unmanned vehicles with insight into new concepts and diverse technologies for the Navy Fleet of the 21st Century. The Division\u2019s expertise spans from naval architecture and marine engineering, to electrical and mechanical engineering, to computer engineering, chemical engineering and physics. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Carderock specializes in furthering technology advancements in ship and submarine design and integration; environmental quality systems; aerodynamics and hydrodynamics; hull forms and propulsors; structures and materials; energy and power; ship signatures, silencing systems, and susceptibility; and vulnerability & survivability systems. The Navy, Marine Corps, and maritime communities have come to depend on Carderock\u2019s expertise and innovative spirit in developing advanced platforms and systems, enhancing naval performance, integrating new technologies, and reducing operating costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Morgan Large Cavitation Channel, Memphis, Tennessee: The Large Cavitation Channel is one of the world\u2019s largest and most technically advanced variable-pressure water tunnel facilities for R&D, testing and characterization of larger scale propulsion and ship hydrodynamics systems. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Acoustic Research Detachment Bayview, Idaho: Large scale acoustic Research and model test facility in northern Idaho. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Puget Sound and Southeast Alaska Acoustic Measurement Facility (SEAFAC): Signature research, development, test and evaluation and in-service engineering. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

South Florida Ocean Measurement Facility (SFOMF), Fort Lauderdale, Florida. A unique ocean environment testing, operations and logistical support facility for offshore underwater signature measurements, ROV operations and sensor evaluation. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
